Cold Wash Only Non-Negotiable at This Price

Iron on Reverse Side Only

500 TC percale can be ironed medium heat, slightly damp. But for the hand embroidered pieces specifically, always iron on the reverse side. Direct heat on embroidery thread can compress and dull the raised texture that makes the piece visually distinctive. Reverse side, medium heat, no steam directly on embroidered sections.

Shade Dry Without Exception

UV exposure affects white and golden percale cotton more noticeably than darker colours. White 500 TC percale can develop a slight cream or yellow tint with repeated direct sun drying. Shade dry after every wash. The difference in appearance over one year of consistent shade drying versus sun drying is immediately visible at this thread count.

First Wash Before Use

The new 500 TC percale has manufacturing finishing agents that affect the initial feel. One cold wash before first use removes this and the fabric settles. Add half a cup of white vinegar to the first cold wash. Wash separately the first time particularly the golden option which may have some initial colour release. After the first wash, the fabric feel is the accurate baseline.

Store in Cotton Not Plastic

When not in use particularly for guest room bedsheets used infrequently stored in a cotton bag or muslin cloth, not plastic. 500 TC percale needs to breathe in storage. Plastic storage traps residual moisture and can cause yellowing in white options over time.
